After a VERY long day I have arrived in Astoria, Oregon.  Spent last nite at Sarah and Cindy's.  Got up at the " butt crack of dawn" and ate breakfast with Garrett and Ezra (oh and Sarah and Cindy too).  My boyz told me all about Kindergarten and "3 year old" preschool.  Garrett showed me how he can tie his shoes and Ezra, well he just ran his mouth and made me grin.  Sarah delivered me to the airport and after an uneventful flight I arrived in Portland at 10:00 a.m. local time.  Spent the day wandering around downtown.  Discovered some great brew pubs, ate some decent food.  Portland is a "unique" town.  Definitely has an urban "on the edge" feel to it.  LOTS of street people and lost souls stumbling around.  Looks like it would be a fun place to live.  Caught a Greyhound bus at 6 pm and arrived in Astoria at 8:45 pm..  I made sure my bike had arrived safely and then asked the desk clerk where I should go for a drink and a bite to eat.  She directed me to "Mary Todd's Working Man's Bar" and assured me that I would return with a story.  I knew I had found the right place when I walked in, the place fell silent and all eyes were directed at me.  Ordered a drink and sandwich.  A moment later Mary (the owner) comes in to announce she has been sober for 2 1/2 years and buys a round of drinks for everyone, including me.  Bonus!!  I was curious as to what people in Astoria do for a living so I struck up a conversation with a few of the patrons.  The general consensus was that they spent a lot of time at "Mary Todd's Working Man's Bar".

Breakfast with these 2 is always a treat!!

I can confirm that they are succeeding!
