I shipped my bike via FedEx on August 30th and it is scheduled to arrive at the motel in Astoria, Oregon on September 6th. You can bet that I will be tracking and monitoring its progress everyday!! Did lots of work on the bike this summer and hopefully it is mechanically sound. On my final shake down ride I broke a spoke and found several others that were "in need of attention". Not a very good feeling to have my trusted ride give me a problem on my last day of training. Overall I think that I am in acceptable physical shape for this ride. I was able to log 3200 miles of training this summer. I think that is quite good considering I lost nearly 4 weeks of riding while Leisa and I went on a cruise in the
Black Sea and visited Istanbul, Turkey. My weight upon returning from that trip is testament to the fact that not a lot of training was done on that trip! On this ride we will average 60 miles per day and I was doing that during training rides with relative ease. I keep telling myself that this ride will not be nearly as challenging as my ride across the country two years ago. On that ride we averaged 115 miles per day. I look forward to this trip being relaxing and plan to spend lots of time stopping to take pictures and maybe a nap or two!!
Hope to see you in Astoria!!! Bon Voyage!!
Have a great trip. We will be tracking your progress!
